Dr. Dickman has over 27 years of private consulting and academic experience in water resources engineering and ecology. Before accepting a position with WVU Tech, he worked for several consulting firms in Kentucky and Georgia performing field surveys for jurisdictional wetlands, protected species and habitat studies. He also performed floodplain analysis using HEC-RAS and hydraulic analyses for wastewater treatment plants in Kentucky and bridge replacement projects in Georgia.
During his tenure at WVU Tech, Dr. Dickman has taught several classes including Hydraulic Engineering, Engineering Hydrology and sessions for FE review. Dr. Dickman is a registered professional engineer (P.E.) in Georgia and West Virginia. He received his Ph.D. in Civil and Environmental Engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology in 2008.

Dr. Hahn's engineering interests center on the analysis and design of structural systems against various phenomena including static loads and dynamic actions due to seismic ground motions, moving forces, water waves, and vortex induced excitations.
Before joining West Virginia University Institute of Technology, he had experience in academia and professional practice, having been a tenured faculty member in civil engineering at Vanderbilt University, and performed various roles in industry including engineering design, consulting and project management for building structures and deep-water offshore platforms and associated pipelines and risers for oil and gas production and transport.
Dr. Hahn can teach engineering courses in statics, mechanics of materials, mechanics of fluids, reinforced concrete design, steel design, structural analysis, and structural dynamics. With much interest in education and research, he received a Ph.D. in civil engineering from Rice University in 1986.

Dr. Leftwich has over 39 years of industrial and academic experience in structural analysis and design of steel, reinforced concrete, masonry and timber structures. Before academia, he worked eight years for Bechtel National Inc. performing analysis and design of structures for nuclear waste repository, solar energy and space shuttle launch site projects.
During his tenure at WVU Tech, Dr. Leftwich has taught several classes including Statics, Dynamics, Mechanics of Materials, Fluid Mechanics, Surveying, Software Tools, Structural Analysis, Advanced Structural Analysis, Steel Design, Reinforced Concrete Design, Timber Design, Civil Engineering Projects and sessions for F.E. and P.E. reviews. Dr. Leftwich is a registered professional engineer (P.E.) in California and West Virginia and a licensed surveyor in West Virginia. He received his Ph.D. in Civil Engineering at the University of Virginia in 1980.

Dr. Amr Mohammed has over 16 years of private consulting and academic experience in transportation engineering, traffic engineering, public transit planning and traffic safety. He joined the Department of Civil Engineering at WVU Tech in 2012. He received his undergraduate civil engineering degree from Ain Shams University, Egypt (1998), his M.Sc. from the University of Central Florida (2002) and his Ph.D. in transportation engineering from the University of Toronto (2007).
Before accepting a position with WVU Tech, he worked for several consulting firms in Canada, Egypt and Dubai, in addition to several academic assignments as an adjunct professor. He has been involved in large scale public transit projects and traffic impact studies, performing traffic surveys and providing traffic engineering analysis. He also performed pedestrian/LRT Station analysis and traffic diversion analysis during construction for the first BRT to LRT transit conversion in the world, currently happening in Ottawa, Canada. Dr. Mohammed has been working in several countries for different international projects of different scales.
During his tenure at WVU Tech, Dr. Mohammed has taught several classes, including Traffic Engineering, Transportation Engineering, Surveying Highway Engineering and sessions for the FE review, in addition to introducing the GIS/GPS Applications course at WVU Tech.
Dr. Mohammed’s research interests in traffic/transportation engineering include public transit operations and planning, traffic safety and driver characteristics, traffic control devices and intersection analysis. He is a registered professional engineer (P. Eng.) in Ontario, Canada and a member of the American Society of Civil Engineering (ASCE) and the Transportation Research Board (TRB). -

Keith Whitaker has over 20 years of construction and professional engineering experience and eight years of academic experience with a focus in Construction Engineering and Management. Mr. Whitaker holds both civil and structural engineering licenses in several states and comes to WVU Tech from positions at the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology and at the University of Alaska Fairbanks, College of Engineering and Mines.
Prior to beginning his academic career, Mr. Whitaker served for nearly 20 years as president of a full-service A/E firm located in the state of Maine specializing in construction engineering and partnering in design build construction projects. He was raised in a family-owned New England commercial construction firm, obtained his BSCE from the University of Rhode Island and earned his JD from the University of Maine School Of Law.

Dr. Horng-Jyh (Tigra)Yang joined the Department of Civil Engineering at WVU Tech in 2011. Dr. Yang received his undergraduate civil engineering degree from Chung Yung University and his M.S. from National Pingtung University of Science and Technology (NPUST) in Independent Taiwan. Before leaving his homeland, Dr. Yang practiced as a manager of the Civil Engineering Service Center at NPUST and served as a lieutenant in the Taiwan Army Corps of Engineers. Dr. Yang later earned his Ph.D. in geotechnical engineering from the University of Nevada, Reno (UNR) in 2005. After obtaining his Ph.D., Dr. Yang served as a Lecturer and Manager of the Geotechnical Engineering Laboratory at UNR. While there, he taught geotechnical engineering courses both at the undergraduate and graduate levels and participated in soil liquefaction research. Dr. Yang also performed research on large scale soil-structure interaction under simulated earthquake motions.
Dr. Yang’s other research interests in geotechnical engineering include soil property characterizations, large scale soil-structure interaction, in-situ soil testing and geotechnical earthquake engineering. Dr. Yang is a registered professional engineer in the State of Nevada and a member of the American Society of Civil Engineering (ASCE) and the Earthquake Engineering Research Institute (EERI).
