In our most recent survey of program graduates, we found that 100% of our responding graduates from 2016 to 2018 found full-time employment or started an advanced degree after graduating from WVU Tech. They also reported an average starting salary range of $45,000 - $55,000.

Almost all of our graduates are either employed in their field or go on to graduate school within six to twelve months following graduation. Employers of our graduates are quite a diverse group. However, most graduates do stay in West Virginia upon finding employment.

After graduation, civil engineers that want to advance their career opportunities seek professional registration, i.e., become a professional engineer. One step towards professional registration is that the applicant must be a graduate of an ABET-accredited program. In preparing our students academically towards professional registration, our curriculum requires seniors to take ENGR 402 Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Review. This course helps them prepare for taking the FE exam, a necessary first-step towards professional registration.

In past years, our graduates have also pursued graduate degrees in civil engineering at several prestigious universities.
